The Lanterne of Light - Chapter One
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Under the watchful eye of controlling patriarchs and zealous priests of the Old Ones, no good deed goes unpunished. Suffocated by their restrictive lives, a handful of demon princesses struggle for self-determination.
The Lanterne of Light is a rich, Gothic horror story focusing on important, sometimes life-changing choices. It combines a visual novel with elements of traditional 2D pixel art, exploring difficult themes through a dark fantasy narrative full of Lovecraftian mythos and suspense.
Meaningful choices
Carefully consider your decisions as you try to balance different characters' interests and desires. Pleasing everyone is rarely an option, but the choices you make will have a lasting impact on the story.
Beautiful illustrations
Every portrait and background was carefully hand-drawn, and full screen illustrations and insets bring the story to life. Traditional 2D pixel art elements round it out with a sense of wonder and exploration.
Engaging plot
The complex, suspenseful narrative weaves together the lives of multiple characters into an immersive story, further enhanced by the player's active participation.
The Lanterne of Light - Chapter One is a preview of the full story coming in 2025. It contains the complete visual novel portion of the first chapter. The full game will include many more chapters, with several distinct story paths, multiple endings, and dozens of choices. It will also feature 2D pixel art gameplay in addition to the visual novel.
The preview is free, but anything you choose to pay is greatly appreciated and will go towards the development of the game!
